Well  hallo,
I've finally managed to work out how Flickr works and can now post images
of my imaginatively entitled entry for this GB.
So first off the obligatory box shot...

The two floats are stuck together and the fuselage.

Now some of you (all?) may be wondering where i going with this and indeed how I'm going to get there,
well I'm not entirely sure myself....
but the general direction would be to try and build something like this;

currently I think it will only have one pusher engine, but I shall see were the force takes me
If i can get half way to this i shall be very happy
the picture comes from deviant art (for which i thank Weaver?) as I believe it was he who pointed this seaplane out many moons ago, possibly along with several others like it (maybe on the ideas thread?)
of course it may just all go pearshaped and shelf of doom but at least Ill have tried

The floats and getting them stick somehow looks like a big challenge, though? But I like the concept/idea a lot.

I love the S.65.  Always have.
I is, IMO, the ultimate engineering solution to building a racing float plane.  There is nothing there that doesn't have to be there.

Plus of course there is the fact that (bar the floats) something very similar could be knocked using the contents of the average plane modellers parts box and some styrene tube or rod.

Perhaps I should fit it with two R engines and enter the GB?

Naturally, something's got to hold up those heavy Rs.

And a much enlarged fuselage/manned engine nacelle.   

The heat in the cockpit of the S.65 was horrendous as it was, I can just
imagine the heat with a pair of 'R' engines would be roasting.


As it's a low-level racer, increased chord rather than span woulld probably be the
real world solution.

its time for a little up date.

In which you can see I've removed the fairings from the wings that were originally for the fuselage, I've also sawn off the tail boom and re-attached it 180deg out
It might seem like madness, but the top of the cabin and forward nose are better shaped to become float shaped*.
And the former wing fairing becomes the basis for the chine? of the float
* I later added a float shaped former to better define the front of the float. more on that when I've worked it out 
just waiting for the glue to dry.....
