NARSES2

Right so provisional dates for the next Group Build season.

One Week GB - 27th May to 4th June. (Unfortunately means I'll miss it as I'm away but I couldn't delay any farther without skewing the whole season)

Sci Fi GB - 1st July to 30th Sept.

Flying boat, seaplane and amphibian GB - 1st Nov to 31st Jan 2018

Cold War GB - 1st Mar 2018 to 31st May 2018.

I've allowed the standard 3 months plus 2 week extension plus 2 weeks to vote/settle down for each GB.

Comments/suggestions welcome.

Chris

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks a lot for the heads up.

Time to make some thematic piles... SF is good news, time for some summertime mecha!

Sounds good and while I won't be able to participate a whole lot in the Sci Fi one (not for lack of wanting to, I love Sci fi,  I just don't have any kits for it aside from a couple Trek ones which are destined for OOB) it's a great opportunity to relax and let others work their magic while I concentrate on things like... fixing lawn equipment or trying to get old shelved projects finished up finally.

It's a win/win situation no matter how you look at it!

Thank you as always for keeping this on track Chris!

Sci Fi doesn't necessarily mean spaceships or Robots Brad C.  Steampunk and time travel shenanigans both spring to mind and that's without too much thinking effort.

The Marlin I purchased from Mrs Bungle's footwear funding scheme won't arrive here until August so i'm glad we are doing Sci Fi first.

Now, I volunteered to Mod one of these.  I have house guests here during the Sci Fi GB so I won't be able to pay my full attention to Modding while they are here so that ones out.
Can I put my hand up to mod the Cold War GB Chris?

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

If its Science Fiction I don't think it will be a requirement to whiff a model for the sake of it, I would guess Sci-fi OOB is quite acceptable as a criteria. Then you have stuff like Independence day where current Jet fighters engage with Alien spacecraft or Battleship where the USN/JMSDF fight off alien nautical threats.

Of course you can mate, thanks for volunteering.

I'm taking a little break from all this organising  ;D so I'll get back to you all with some firm plans and pleas for Mods (yes I do have a note of those who have volunteered) at the weekend.

Chris - who's thinking of having his own private One Week Build as he'll miss the official one.

As for what will be eligible in the Sci Fi GB ? If I'm honest I have no idea, which at least means I have no preconceptions  ;) My own interest in the subject is limited to the Lensman and Skylark series of books plus the odd one or two others I've read over the years. There's also a few gorgeous females who stick in my mind from t.v. and films as well. Is Buffy Sci Fi ?

I'll get the initial Sci Fi board set up fairly quickly so we can start discussing what we mean by Sci Fi. So lets not discuss it here or I'll only have to go through and move posts.

Cheers, Chris

Right I have the Moderators we need for the first two GB's of the season. Kitbasher will moderate the One Week GB and Crudebuteffective and Rickshaw will moderate the Sci Fi GB. Thank you gentlemen

This means that I can now think about rules and after squaring them with the respective moderators get them up for discussion. So expect to see that some time in the coming week.

I still need three moderators for the remaining GB's of the season however, Zenrat has volunteered for the Cold War GB, so if you think you can spare a little time let me know. No hurry for this and if you do stick your head above the parapet I will give you a chance to withdraw it nearer the date.

Remember that without Moderators it makes it very difficult to run a GB.

PR19_Kit

I'll volunteer for one of the Flying Boat GB moderators.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Regards
Kit

I'll get the proposed rules for the Sci Fi GB up at the weekend (the Moderators are aware of the proposed rules) so there's plenty of time to thrash them out before the GB starts 1st July
