Pretty pictures, even if they do include a Kriegsmarine S boat, HMS Barham sinking after being torpedoed by a U boat  and  an RAF launch.

I like the way they showed a shot of a 1960s gas turbine Brave Class boat starting up with a backing script saying '....they first fired up in 1916....'

Let's not accuracy get in the way of a cute link, eh?  :banghead:

Nice pictures.  If there's a voice over I usually turn the sound off anyway.

Time to re-read Gunboat 658 methinks.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I've given up with the BBC when it comes to picture research for any historical anniversary, they are just plain lazy. Interesting item spoiled by shoddy, or just plain lazy, research.

In the past I have pointed out to them that we have generations who have grown up on their poor picture research and know no better. They didn't seem vaguely interested  :-\

Captain Canada

That was fun to watch ! Loved the sound as they caught and passed the camera boat. Thanks for sharing that !

That shot of the Barham sinking was mentioned on the Newswatch programme this morning, but only in the context of a 'hawk-eyed' viewer noticing it.

That programme REALLY tees me off as any time they have a BBC editor on there they always take the attitude of 'We did it just fine' and they never EVER apologise or even think they did anything wrong! In fact I may even write in myself on that exact topic!

Yup I caught that on Newswatch and it did make me grimace. I find they really do think they know better simply because they work for the BBC (or any other media outlet) whereas the rest of us are simply ???????? I met a couple of t.v. news people via work on a few occasions and really did struggle not to have a right go at them and their attitudes. As to how they then cut a piece to completely misrepresent what was actually said is amazing  :banghead:

When I did my last TV filming on the APT earlier in the year, which was for the Beeb itself, they kept on pressing me for my opinions on '.....the railway network buying back the technology that we sold them in the 80s.....'. No less than FOUR times I explained that it hadn't happened like that and that it was just a myth put out by people who didn't understand what had actually happened.

Needless to say they canned every one of my items on that front and the presenter finished off the programme on air by saying that it was a big pity that '.......the railway network bought back...... etc etc.'  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

What was the point of having me there as an expert when they were just going to trot out their own, false, ideas of what happened anyway?  :o
