Okay guys, I know they're not pretty but I'd appreciate some feedback. I've been doing a bit of 'artwork', specifically on an idea I had a while back. I was looking at a picture of a Typhoon-class sub and thought it'd make a good starship  (as you do).

So, I've done some playing about and come up with...

EFS AVENGER

Elliot-class Destroyer

EFS POTEMKIN

Nelson-class Cruiser

EFS HOOD

Arizona-class Battlestar

EFS HERMES

Prometheus-class Carrier

As a budding writing goon, I had an idea for a script I could use 'em in. Now all I need's backing...

Specs to come when I work 'em out

Now I'm off back to wherever we sad acts go...

Ooooo, more ideas...

Cool beans!

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Brillinat idea Davey. Are they Turbolaser turrets I see scattered all over the hull? Will ther be provision for a fighter squadron or two?

Does this idea make you a space cadet or are you promoted up to full Space(out)man??  :D    ;)  ;)  :P

Great idea!1

Spaceships are good.....no, even BETTER!!!
I once thought of adapting a 3litre Coke bottle into a spaceship as it's got a great shape.
Subs are cool though.
I've an idea to convert a Warspite as well into a spaceship, but that's an idea I've been kicking around for years.

Hey, cool!

But on the first and last ones, you forgot to add the warp nacelles.  :P

Davey B

Ta guys!  ;)

They'r not turbolasers, Lance. I'm thinking more like plasma guns, sort of like a 22nd century Phalanx. Certainly there'll be some fighters on the capital ships, at the mo my ideas are for an X-32 based light fighter and a Firefox based heavy space superiority fighter. Carriers would have loads of each, launched through the bows and recovered via the lifts on the upper hull.

As for main armament on the others, X-ray lasers/phased plasma pulse cannons (I remember how good those Babylon 5 ships looked in action), with particle beam launchers on the sponsons of the battleships/cruisers.

Off for beer. Need it.

Erm....I hate to be a rivet counting spoil sport but....you might want to reconsider the rear firing side cannon on the EFS Hood. Your engine is in the direct firing line of them if the have to shoot directly to the rear. Your ship would shoot its own @ss off.
A simple fix is to either space them further out from the hull or to reduce the engine area in size a bit (that's the way I'd go).
Now all you have to do is design a black one with a skull'n'crossbones on it and you've got Space Pirates!  :ar:

Hmm, the lad may have a point there... Thought I'd managed to keep 'em clear of the engines. Certainly on the Potemkin/Oscar I I had to move them back a little.

No, no, no----everyting ees okay.

I distinctly recall the real Turbodyne-400 ™ turbo-lasers incorporating an ingenius
smart-card ™ which would not permit the weapons to fire within any arc that entered the predetermined profile of their own ship's aft end.

A-okay...design remains true to reality.

It has even been certified as 100% authentic by a true nutball-----me!!!

You mean they re-invented the WWI era interupter gear ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I see someone's been hanging around Wolf's Shipyards.  The Earth Alliance weapons and engines look a little out of place on the submarine hulls, but I can see what you're going for.

Looking good, Davey !

But I'd have to say I like the first one the best. And that last one......just something about the others with those huge guns, don't look right to me, like they're too big for the 'boat'.

Having some space fighters on board would be extra cool, tho !

Now if somebody would make little Battlestar Gallactica fighters in 350th scael, I'd build one too !

Cheers !

My idea was to make 'em look as real-life as possible. It's essentially concept art for a script idea I had, just so I can get things straight in my mind. Been doodling alien spaceships and aliens while I was away...

The reason for the B5-inspired weapons fit was simple: I bloody loved the EA ships!

Davey B

What? The EA had brilliant weapons! Plasma guns, huuuuuge lasers...

Okay, they looked like they's been designed by a blind man with a ruler and a set of kid's crayons, but since when has anything we designed ben anything but functional? Aside from the Hunter, of course!

And the Shadows just looked PURE evil! class  ;)
