You ever have one of those days. I worked like a nut to get this thing together so I could put it to Tom to include in the next update. It's a result of the discussion Baz put out re: ACM vs BVR. Basically a Banshee loaded to the hilt with AMRAMs. However when I got to the last, the very last step, the flat coat finish...
the damn stuff ate my decals, smeared and fogged the paint and did wholesale poo to my baby. That and all of my AMRAM's, when I painted them, the paint orangepealed. I have no idea what happened there but they are soaking in easy off oven cleaner.

Any how, I'm off to buy more decals and some wetdry sandpaper to try and salvage the paint under the melted decals.  Sigh.

I feel your pain. :(

Seven months I spent on that Concorde. Seven months of my modelling life already that I can't have back. It would have worked too if it wasn't for that pesky, meddling acrylic.  <_<

Radish

But such a sweet-looking bird!!

I like it too!  Maybe it's a reflection of my relative inexperience, but I'd be happy to crank out something that looked like that.  I don't think I'll ever please a JMN, but it's my hobby, and I like it!  All the same, I feel your pain.

1)  I think it looks great

2)  What the hell kind of matt varnish are you using that dissolves decals and smears paint??!!??  :o  :o

No, not off Carriers. It's a basic Hobbycraft Banshee with add ons, a Block 60 style hump, some antennas and such for EW and 8 modified AMRAMs, now called BANANARAMs. I have the back story written up including all the political intrigue and such.

Basically the concept is an aircraft that stooges about and launces long distance air to air fire and forget ordance. It was done in silly response to Baz's discussion about UCAVs and ACM vs BVR missles.

Just hang it from the ceiling and say it's blurred because it's in flight!  ^_^

Pretty cool bird.  :)
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Just saw this----holy snit, man, what a cool concept you've pulled off!

I mean, who would have thought you could update a Banshee to look like something still so very much in vogue.  Winglets!  Humps and bumps!  Mini-Canuckards!

Great job.  Don't fret the paint: more of my own paint jobs screw up than ever work, anyhow.

Although, after reading about the damage done to your paint and decals, I wonder if Radish was having the same thought I was:  "Got to get me some of THAT stuff to purposely damage the finish of my next bird for heavy weathering!"  So, what WAS the matte varnish you used?

Keep us updated on the restoration, please!
