By 2013 the government cutbacks to the armed forces had hit deep.  Most of the RAF's frontline squadrons had been decimated.  Despite this, a need for air defence was still realised.  To fill the gap left by the disbanded Typhoon sqns, the MOD procurred 2 sqns of modified Hawk 100s.  A variant of Blue Vixen, using an AESA antenna array was fitted up front, with front and rear displays for single or dual crew operation.  Entering service in 2015 with 17 and 3 sqn, they provided supplemental local air defence for the UK.

Nicely done.  I missed the reflective surface on the first pass, as I thought the Hawk was toting six Sidewinders.

Dunno if your in the UK, But if you are. That has to appear on the SIG display stand at some point :)

Brilliant!!  Very nice indeed - I have a Hawk in the stash set aside for Fleet Air Arm duties....

Forgot to mention it's the Airfix 1/48 kit.  Nose was from an old 1/72 Tornado GR

Well if you are at a show and the SIG is there come along and say hallo. We don't bite...well Radish does when he's off his med's but that's another story  ;D

Great looking kit........if you do turn up at a show.....quite right,beware of Radish...however,make sure you ain't on your own behind the table and then have to answer questions, from the punters.....now,that is scary........ :thumbsup:

Yeah..........you are probably right there.....but then I'm mainly in charge n got places to hide......lonely behind the desk with nowhere to run and all people want to know about is the sherman tank thing......anyhoo,this Hawk is nearly how my Maltese 100's would be.....I prob wouldn't have changed nose....but def the same load out.....I like it lots.... :thumbsup:
