Yep, started another project. Often thought about whiffing a Clunk, in fact I have a bunch of ideas for them, but this is the first. The CR-100, combining the Hobbycraft Canuck with wings, landing gear, and some other bits from the Airfix U-2. Vertical stabiliser will probably be stretched up a few notches. Back story is already written!

Awesome!

Don't forget to widen the horizontal stabilizer as well -- the Clunk was well known for it's sensitivity to pitch and C of G changes...

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

I've already got the wide stabiliser on, it's the kit whch contains the parts for a MkIV and a MkV.

Once again proving that nothing cannot be improved by fitting it with U2 wings.

And by the way, guess what's being done with the leftover bits? Can you say 'Heedlock Aviation' and 'Johnson Kelly'? Sure, I knew you could!  ;D

ABSOLUTELY!

Can't imagine how I didn't think of that one too, the U-2 wings really suit the Clunk a treat.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Now this looks good, and eminently plausible. Will you be re-instating the tip tanks? ;D

Nah. In the U-2 the engine took up almost all the fuselage space, but with the Clunk all that big fat area between the engine pods is available! Might put some sensors on the wingtips though.

Super Sweet & Cool   if you're looking for Other Ideas, how about using a 'Clunk' as a Customs Interceptor? No Smuggler in their Right Mind is goona want to be Caught by a Customs CF-100! just an Idea, Keep up the Great Work   Dan

Awwww nuts! Had the same idea. Ah well, mine will have a 'Patricia Lynn' RB-57E nose so at least it will be a bit different.  :banghead:

Can I take it yours will be equipped with leafy roundels?

Alvis came close to that idea with his famous Zero Tolerance!

Probably not, but you never know. Many U-2s didn't carry any national markings, just a tail number (and they were not flown by USAF personnel, but CIA). I suspect that this was done for 'plausible deniability' in case of a shootdown; they could say "Wasn't ours". The fact that Taiwan operated them too made this slightly workable. They didn't bother keeping the stars and bars off the SR-71 because nobody else had them. If I do put leafy roundels on it then the aircraft may be a research example akin to the U-2s that NASA operated.
