Original Shenyang J-10 – China’s first swing- wi

Ok ... quite another „what-if“ modelling project for the time after the original Shenyang J-11 (= Mirage f-1 look-alike) !!

I’m looking for anything ... esp. ideas how the first Chinese variable-geometry Wing Fighter – the original Shenyang J-10 – would or better could have looked like !

All I know during my www-searches is that it was to be a “big” fighter from Shenyang !!! ... nothing more !!!

I started spinning my mind ... and came to this “first” suggestion:
- a design based on the Shenyang J-8II with a low-set swing-wing – something like a smaller Tu-22 Backfire wing (maybe the upcoming Trumpeter 1/72 J-8II + an Academy Tu-22 1/144 wing !
- maybe a twin-seater
- a bigger radar to be armed with PL-4 !

If I will find some time during the week-end I will try to draw a sketch .... !!!

So, ... now it’s up to You for suggestions and / or a better design !!!

Hardpoints would be under the fixed glove only- a small, PL-2 launcher outboard and well forward. and a PL-4 inboard under each wing.

Surely ... they will follow !!! ... but so far take a closer look at the drawings from "overscan" (THANKS a lot

) as they are pretty close to the think I was thinking of !!!

But I was just thinking about a maybe little smaler fixed-wing gloves (like the Tu-22M's) with a longer part of the intake in front of the leading edge !

... second: What do You think of twin tails ....

Regading the "Mirage-style" centre-cones ... I don't like them .... and I'm thinking about adding them to the J-11 too as Shenyang re-used the standard MiG-23-style intake on the later J-13 again !

I've been playing with the idea of something similar, a Su-15 mated to the wing of a Su-17/20/22.

Well- heres a real "advanced Su-15" project- the Su-19M with an ogival wing inspired by the T-10.

The Su-19M was proposed in 1973, and was expected to use R67-300 3 spool turbofans (possibly partly based on the RB199). It was supposed to be much more manouverable.

Another advanced Su-15 derivative was the Su-15Sh attack aircraft which lost out the T-8 (Su-25).
