Ian the Kiwi Herder

Over on the Wants thread, I posted that I was after an Accurate Miniatures SBD-1 Dauntless. Got a reply from Pyro-Manic saying that he was off to Plastic Pastimes in Poole today and would pick-one-up for me (if they had any left).

They did and he did !!

Just doesn't get any better than that. Sincere thanks, Alun, you are a true Gentleman Modeller and an all round top bloke   - Folks ought to know 'bout this sort of thing, as it's all too easy to become jaded, cynical and distrustfull, and that is why I make no apology whatsoever for posting this.

Thanks again, bud.

I can say the same. I made an offhand comment about needing some He 219 parts in my '46 GB' thread, and
he responded with an offer to send me same, and had them in the mail two days later. He's a good egg, no
two ways about it.

Alun has been very helpful to me in the past also, he is certainly a top fella, and is deserved of appreciation and recognition..... But I am sure a pint or 2 would suffice

Its one of the things i love about here... Some time ago i posted that i had lost the instructions to an old kit and BAM two mins later i had a reply from a member saying drop him the address and he'd have the photocopies with me within the week :D

Even more impressive as it turned out he couldnt get the photocopier to work so sent me the originals rather than let me down :D This was also the first time i saw a now oft used phrase here

"Another what if rescue!!"   ;D

Ive just gone and checked and it was you Ian !!

What can I say - I just try to help! Thankyou very much, and there are plenty of others who do just as much if not more. That's what makes this such a good place to hang out.

I have to say the same about Pyro.....I made a comment about wanting to make a kit if had two of them,I obviously only had one...(Ka50 Hokum 1/48).....contacted by him with the offer of one...awesome!!!! And I got a great deal trading for it...he even re attached the tail he had cut off for his own purpose.....well chuffed.....

why all the hoo-haa ?

I've dealt with modellers from France, Germany, Alaska, USA, Mexico & Brazil --- all good but English guys are the all-time helpful ones, being very fast, very reliable & extra-helpful, as well as very friendly when I visit those shores
you may as well all give up -- the truth is much stranger than fiction.

Because not everybody is as helpful, trustworthy and caring as pyro... A recent topic was precisely about one of our members who had promised goods, received money but never delivered... So when someone acts right, it's nice to say so, if only because it will help others in recognizing which members are trustworthy and which members aren't.

Add my voice to this chorus.  Back in January, I looked over his 'for sale' thread in Swap Shop, and saw a kit I really wanted.  Money was tight, so I sent him a PM asking if he was willing to sit on the kit till the end of the month, when I was getting paid again.  He put the kit into the mail on January 24th, a week before I had the money.  I didn't receive it until today, but I put that down to Royal Mail and USPS.
