Here is my 1/48 scale Dragon Fw 190D-12 kit built and painted as a D-13 from 10.Staffel of III./JG 301.
This unit was in charge of air defense of the Berlin area in 1945 and was the first to use the Ru 344 air to air missile and after a few missions started scoring many kills against the B-17's and B-24's.
After JG 301 was fully equipped with the Ta 152C and Ta 152H they swept the sky clear of the Mustang threat and the older aircraft like the Fw 190D-9 and Fw 190D-13's were converted to bomber killers armed with air to air missiles and they combined with the Me 262 units also armed with air to air missiles stopped Allied daytime bomber raids against the Reich. :o

Here is ''red 7''...

And here is ''red 7'' and one of the aircraft that flew top cover for the bomber destroyers, a Ta 152C of 9.Saffel III./JG 301.

Me too! ;D

I need to invent a 'hot tub time machine' and go back in time and get some color pics of the late war aircraft, but if I did so would I be considered a color Nazi?
