By late 1944, Blackburn had still to turn the Firebrand into anything that the Navy could use. Whilst it had potential, it had spent much of the war under development.  Sydney Camm at HSA, aware of the need for such an aircraft for use in the far east, offered a quick solution - fit the wider Tempest wing to the new lightweight fighter, the Sea Fury, to allow for the carriage of a torpedo.  As th wings were similar, the Tempest wing could be modified with the fold of the Sea Fury.  All the parts had already been testflown, it was just a matter of putting them together.  The Air Ministry and the Sea Lords agreed and thus the Sea Fury torpedo fighter was born.

This is what happened to the bits left over from this thread:

As you can see, the fuselage is together and the wings are on but I've yet to apply any filler or do anything else.

Current status: On Hold

And here's one we prepared earlier.

This is an RAF example rather than Fleet Air Arm, operating from North Coates and used as a navigation ship during strikes on coastal shipping off Holland.

Ah, your mojo's back I take it!
A very neat collection of Hawkers, Lee.  Oddly enough my projects for next year include Sabre Fury LA610, a P1009 Sea Typhoon, a P1027 and possibly a P1032 Eagle Fury.
There's also something else bubbling away in the dark recesses of the modelling folds of my brain that involves a Tempest but won't be Hawker.  Not yet sure whether I'll do it or not.  Mind you, so many other ideas rattling about I sometimes have to lie down!  Once this wiffing lark gets a grip there's no letting go!!

A question though.  Whty a two-seater when the P1009 and the Firebrand were single-seaters?  A conscious decision, or the result of what was in the stash?

Don't know.  I just started with two seaters for some reason, possibly knowing the Navy's love for two seat aircraft.  A two seater is handy as a navigation ship on long range ops.  Plus I haven't quite finished the single seater just yet...

Was thinking of using a Hornet NF as a navigation ship for long range Hornet strikes myself
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looking at the photos in their smaller thumbnails and I can't help but think of the Aichi A7(?) Grace.
