O.k. ... let´'s start just with a short overview !

- 4 frames (2x light grey & 2x clear)
- 82 very fine and super crisp detailed parts ... 75 for the plane (+ claer parts) + 2 for a display stand !!
- Decals for 2 versions (2x the prototype - 1st when it was unveiled and 2nd with the now recent chnges !)
- good 8 pages for construction in Russian and Englisch in 34 steps.

- PLUS: very fine engraved details (nearly Hasegawa-standard !!), an interesting but good construction of the parts ... few but bigger parts !
- Minus: sparsly detailed cockpit and the typical Zvezda-stylish decals !

This is the box !

I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong.

The stars are not wanted now; put out every one:
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woods:
For nothing now can ever come to any good.

Let's start with the details ! I was very impressed when I open the really big box ... the frames are so big that I hat to divide them just to put them on the scanner !

But the other - much greater - surprise was the quality of the kit !
Even as I expected engraved panel lines I expected something more like the quality of their MiG-31 or S-37 !"!! ... but here are very fine engraced panel lines ... allmost as fine in some Tamygawa-quality kits !!!

Here is a comparison for the panel lines ! The darker parts are from the MFI ... the lighter ones are the S-37 wing !

So ... what to add !!

I think it is the best Zvezda kit I've seen so far .... and it has a very big "What-if"-potential !!!    ... just a "need to be built" !!

Enjoy it, Deino   :)

Hi Deino

Yeah i picked one up yesterday and some of the lads got em at the Scottosh IPMS Nationals at Perth.

Your right a very nice kit, with lots of potential, just a couple of points.

- On the upper wing surface you can see the scribing of what i suspect is the location of a wing hard pooint for weapons pylons. However the level of detail on the upper surface is not carried on to the lower surface. Would have been nice to do a What-if operational aircraft.

- The belly has some unusual details, i assume it represents an internal weapons bay doors. It would have been nice if they had opened these to allow the bay to be viewed as Italeri did with the YF-22/23 & X-32. But i suppose that levelk of information was not accessable to them at the time.

The current Combat aircraft has an article on the Mig and Berkut BTW.

Cheers
