The start point is a Whiff in itself.. but as that would defeat the purpose of this GB.. time for a rebirth

It is an old.. really old Airfix F-111 (I think).
I am thinking of doing an Ultra long range strike version.. stretched with an extra crew station, tankage and perhaps a wing plan change.

We shall see.. there is some pretty good inspiration on the other threads.

Progress !!
Firstly Off with its head

Then added the start of the extra crew station in the new lengthened fuselage

Clearly then, there is a need for some more electronics and fuel so a spinal tap

Using the left over knitting needle from the Rheintochter AA Missile build

Another shot of the surgery so far

I am now thinking this is going to be a RAF modification for a Electronic Warfare/Wild Weasel type platform, being able to supress and kill radars, low and fast.

Are you going to add ejection seats?
Yes.. I have decided that the rebuild to add the extra crew stations compromised the Escape pod principle and this feature was removed to save weight and add commonality with the new crew stations.

So.. after much filling and hacking and filling and cutting and yet more filling.. we are here

Righto.. time for the goof coat of primer and some decisions on final features such as

Weapons Controllers canopy.. I am leaning heavily toward clamshell or perhaps a Gull wing open canopy (what is the professional car name for that ?)
Canards.. it is a tad (lots!!) longer so perhaps some small canards would be required to add to the the nose stabilisation

More to follow.. wait out.

Caveman

It is a bit longer, but you have added some fairly serious bulk behind the main wing so you might find that it balances itself out...

.... and done !!

firstly a look at the new "offices"

Now onto the finished... well as good as finished, I am sure I will find something that will annoy me ;D

Clam shell canopies for both crew stations

I have hung for this mission profile, top to bottom BOZ-107, ALQ-119, 2 x ALARMS on underfuselage Pylons
2 x ASRAAMs, and Sky Shadow ECM Pod

Top view, finished in Med Sea grey and Barley Grey

So she is ready to go hunting Straight Flush or Pat Hand radar units

I will put up a final shot on a base for the finished thread.

Cheers

What did you make the rear canopies out of?
Same question.

It is half of a 1/48 Tornado canopy, cut down and trimmed to fit.
It would not quite fit but being open it is not that noticeable.. I hope ;D

Thanks for the great replies as well folks.

Cheers
