Is this before or after CMK have had your eyes to pay for it?

Yeah, I must admit they are expensive, half the price and in 1/48 would be even better  ;D

The fact of the matter is that the Czechs are slowly but surely pricing themselves out of the market.  30+ for a resin Spitfire in 72? They can...  (rest of post deleted on legal advice).

Along with the usual update sets (and a 35th scale Naval Gun!) there's a Mirage G-8 in 72nd coming from CMK.

Very true Lee.  And the fact that once you buy one, you know Hobby Boss will release it in injection a month later

CMK kits are a ridiculous price now.  I know they're quality castings and you do get quite a few spares in some kits but really, 35+ for a 72nd Spitfire?  I know what I'd like to say but my legal team have advised against it.

I only ever pick them up now if they're on special, hence my Planet Manchester bought for 45 - which is cheaper than a Hasegawa Lancaster!  I was disappointed with the last CMK Spit I bought too.

What's more irksome is the wholesale price of resin kits from suppliers.  I looked into doing the online store thing years ago (but most of the companies who import here won't talk unless you have a shopfront) and found that the usual 'commercial' markups didn't seem to apply to resin stuff at all.  It was basically a case of name your own price.  As an example, a Hobby Fan (AFV Club's aftermarket arm) 35th APC is tremendously expensive as one would expect in resin at a retail price.  Wholesale and it's barely the cost of a cheap and nasty 35th injection item.  I found that with most of the resin I initially looked at.

Supply and demand is just as important in the model world as in every avenue of commerce.  The suppliers will charge whatever they believe they can get away with.   Which is why we need more diversification.  The more alternative suppliers we support, the better the competition, the lower the prices or so my good friend Adam Smith always told me in my economics textbooks.   :banghead:

Unfortunately, for many resin kits in the UK there's only one importer.  I can't say any more as I'm afraid a court order says I mustn't.

CMK or CMR? They're two different brands.

A real oddball, but then you could do all sorts of whiffy things with it. Bit pricey though...
