has anyone out there ever seen drawings or illustrations of any of the Mitsubishi 'stealth' aircraft concept designs mentioned in the trade press during the 1980's?
the only japanese 'stealth' design i have been able to uncover was in a japanese patent application for a 'radar invisible aircraft design' which looked pretty 'different' (very!)

happy researching...cheers, joe

:dum:  :dum:  Sorry, Sorry ... I remember one drawing which was published in an older FLIGHT International issue .... and as I remember right it looked like the very early ATF proposals from Lockheed !

Would it be possible that You can post Your "japanese patent application for a 'radar invisible aircraft design' which looked pretty 'different'!"  ????

Thanks in advance .... I will start a simmilar tread with this question in the key-forum !!

taa daaa..... cheers geoff...my first image post...

so whos gonna attemp a model build of it...a prize to anyone who does!!! id suggest an acrylic or plasticard planform with built up 'curves from sheet laminate and car filler (or balsa!) size wise is anyones guess tho, altho looking at the undercart, somewhere around half the span size of the B.2 Spirit would suffice for the bigger one, the smaller   probably being similar to the F.117 Nighthawk or F.23 Widow in size?

Naaah, too curves fr a Klingon. It certainly does look 'not of this world' though.

Romulan, then?  It certainly has the curves of a Rhihansu design.

I could see Romulan.  Or, to jump to another franchise, Minbari.  That thing's got baby Whitestar written all over it.

I agree with you there Jason, with more than a dash of Vorlon added to flavour it. Yep, I am a BIG B5 fan.

...been scanning through back issues of 'Flight' and 'Av. Week' unf the only other info i can find on 'japanese stealth' is that a number of japanese companies were looking into it, and that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries had developed an 'indigineous design' for a low observable strike fighter...as yet i havent seen any artists impressions or drawings tho...hmmm...perhaps a letter to Mitsubishi may yield some more information???

cheers, joe
