Both the Honduras air force and army were in desperate need of an armoured vehicle capable of protecting both armoured columns and airfields from Cartel aircraft attack. One option with stood out from all the rest, was a design made by the same company that upgraded the AMX 30's in Honduras service. This design was based on the proven Leopard 2 Chassis and Turret, modified heavily for the anti aircraft role, but also with a secondary capability of destroying ground targets.
The armament consists of a 4 round stinger box mounted on the right side of the turret on a scissor mount, a 4 round launcher for Starstreak missiles on the left side of the turret, with its own sighting system, and a 30 mm 6 barrelled cannon in the place of the main gun. The turret which is auto controlled by the targeting system has a rapid response capability, therefore the turret can be a bit of a fairground ride for the gunner/commander whilst in operation. The vehicle also has a an early warning and tracking radar fitted to the rear of the turret, which is in constant operation.
The vehicle has the same speed and handling characteristics of the donor vehicle and is capable of keeping up with other armour and being deployed at other parts of the airfield rapidly. Another feature on this vehicle is that the gun can be used whilst in motion against ground targets.

The model looks good, Chris.  But somehow, a snow diorama doesn't seem to fit with the Hondouras theme.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

An armor guy, who builds airplanes almost exclusively, that he converts to space fighters-- all while admiring ship models.

This is somewhat similar to the Chieftain AS1 Air Defence Variant (ADV) "Echidna" in my Greater Australia story.
