That top one looks like a nasty accident between something I'd build and an egg plane... I must build one.
There are no good kits, bad kits or grail kits, just kitbash fodder.

I dunno about that top one - I would actually invert the booms on it, and put canards in place.  It looks like a pusher-arranged nose-intake turboprop, because you can see the pit if you look closely, but the booms with the vertical stabilizers are out in front, and it looks like there's guns in the other end of the booms, but they're facing backwards which is odd.

The top one is flying right to left. The cockpit has the correct layout for this (you can see the black seat and the brown pilot's coat).

The engine has the general configuration of the Napier Nomad, with an exhaust turbine (perhaps with afterburner, judging from the bright colors).

Or it could be mixed-powered: radial in front, booster jet at the rear with the forward engine's exhausts trunked to the jet nozzle.

In any case, that one I find cute.
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!

These planes are very intriguing! Could someone please direct me to the website they came from please?

Thanks

No, no, no! You do not die for your country, you make the other one die!

This has all kinds of aircraft pictures with some interesting wrecks on the Home page right now.

The second one down reminds me of the Republic Gunship from Star Wars somehow.....

From the artist who generated that first design (the Caproni Ca-35 Calabrone), we get this blog:

He's got some interesting retro-futuristic ideas.  I like this one:

Hey Guys,

The Calabrone is a totally fictitious plane I drew up just for a laugh, The engine is a twin row radial with a shaft connecting it to a crude turbo unit.
Otherwise known as a compound engine, the exhaust is piped into the turbo and in turn it puts some extra power back in to the main shaft.
In my blog, I have either cartoon aircraft or planes that continued into the next ten years after ww2, my pals and I pretend that ww2 went on a bit longer.
The majority of the planes in Drawn Patrol were created like 25 years ago but every now and then I draw a new one or post other folks artwork.
There seems to be a lot of likeminded people out there.

Here are some other examples:

Damn, I Like that Tu-116 - that thing almost has a half Muscle Car feel to it with that big forced air intake up top of the engine mounting.

Arthur,
Welcome to the fold.  Some neat ideas you have there.

Weaver,
thought the same thing when I saw it.  And don't the engines, wing, landing gear look like they are from an Albatros?

Thanks for the welcome philp,

Yeah, Sauragnmon, the Tu-166 was deliberatly crossed with muscle car, I try and come up with overpowered engines for my planes.
Incidentaly, I'm in great awe and admiration for the stuff you guys do, as a kid I built my fair share of plastic kits but later moved on to flying models and r/c.
I like to design and build my own  r/c models but mainly sport models. I crash too much to build scale stuff.
Anyway I appreciate the work you folk put into these gems.

Arthur.
