Lovely looking aircraft.......I wonder if it would be fitted with an ejector seat and some way of blowing the prop blades off just prior to ejecting like the Do 335 was meant to have....
BODY,BODY....HEAD..!!!!

IF YER HIT, YER DEAD!!!!

GTX

Nope - generally the pilots died in the movie it is from.

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Nice!
But I was feeling puzzled about the name and specificity. After checking, I understand, and maybe tou could present them as a pair:
- the well-known prototype Kyushu J7W1 Shinden
- (your) improved Kyushu J8W1, with modern bubble-canopy and square-fins...
Wonderful anyway, thanks
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

Of course Tophe; thanks. My "denomination of Kyushu J8W1" is totally fictional. It would be to attribute to the model a name in the "Whifi code", because the J7W2 -and successive-, correspond to jet versions.

The real model cames from the film "The Sky Crawlers", named Sanka MK.B.

Funny that an interceptor would be named after a coffee.

Anyway, great model, whoever conceived and built it.

>My "denomination of Kyushu J8W1" is totally fictional. <

The "J8" designation was used for the Japanese rocket version of the Me-163, built by Mitsubishi, known as the J8M1 Shusui. Of course the "W" designation for "Kyushu" would make it the Kyushu version of the "J8" specification (whatever that was). So the designation is logical, even if fictional.

Below is a poor photograph of the actual "J8M1 Shusui":

My mind is like a compost heap: both "fertile" and "rotten"!

Prop blade blow-off, yes; ejector seat, no.

The combat aircraft in the anime appear to be deliberately made to mimic WWII varieties in every way: propeller engines, unguided weapons, optical gunsights only, primitive radars (reserved for multi-seat heavy fighters), and no ejector seat.

Animated movie he means.

The combat personnels in the anime are artificially-reincarnated (a copy of him/her that retains his/her combat skill set is born) after their deaths- from the anime universe's point of view there is no point to go the distance to protect them unless doing so directly contributes to winning a particular battle- I guess that's why the lack of ejector seats is acceptable in the anime.
To the individual soldiers, *everything* is a frontal assault!
