Master Box
« on: March 18, 2009, 04:19:57 pm »
G'day Gang,

Master Box are talking about releasing 35th scale kits of the Horsa and Ju-52 amongst their newest stuff.  Their figures are OK, but certainly not up to Dragon's standard, so I'm interested to see how a large kit will shape up.

Strewth, fit some engines and you could tow the Horsa with it......... :)

Masterbox have been very innovative (and brave) with their releases so far.  This goes beyond brave :o

Another more convential, but still innovative release is this figure set of a desert tank crew, complete with Indian soldier(!), moorish type bloke on camel, and monty type figure

The Camel should be handy instead of trying to get hold of the Heller set and the 1/35 Horsa is going to be ace  ;D

I'm not really into figures, but I saw some Master Box ones in the LHS the other day and was really taken with the animation, character and non-cliché subjects. For obvious reasons, this one appeals to me in particular:

Why does the guy holding the fuel tank make me think of Orange County Choppers? ;)

One thing MB certainly do not lack is imagination - so much better than Dragon and their incessant stream of figure sets featuring a German soldier pointing.... :banghead:

It begs for captions too, doesn't it?

Guy at bench: "Y'know, you could put a supercharger on this thing, no problem"

Guy with tank: "Hmmm, flame job or metalflake?"

Guy with pipe: "Wow, like far out man...." (you KNOW that's not tobacco, right? ;))

Guy with pump: "Is one of you geniuses going to change the oil or do I have to do that too?"

OR

Guy with pump: "It's got air in the tires now, so it should run...."

Guy with tank: "And it's got fuel in the tank, so it really should run...."

Guy with pipe: "Well philosophically speaking, I can see no reason why it shouldn't run...."

Guy at bench: "Think I've found the problem!"

All: "What?"

Guy at bench: "It's a BMW...."

Master Box have a couple of new figure kits upcoming.  The US Army one looks quite good.  I just hope the detail on the weapons in particular is adequate.

Really interesting British figure set in preparation.  Does anyone remember 'multipose' figures from Airfix in 32nd?

Yep, I remember them.  Very useful and nice they were too.  Good moulding to, for their day.  These look interesting.  Be nice if they did some crouching, rather than standing.

And for ship modellers:

-        70002 Markgraf
-        70003 Grosse Kurfurst
-        70004 Kronprinz
-        70005 Dreadnought.
We plan to produce models of all the ships from both the English and German fleets, which took part in the Battle of Jutland.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
