Does anyone know if there are downloadable fonts for RAF and RN aircraft? I need to print some decals and I can't find anything in Word that is all that close. Thanks!

Yes there are, but I'm darned if I can remember where :(

I think I got them from an FS repainting site, and there's quite a large range, WWII and modern, and USAF, Canadian and RAF too. I could zip them up and email them perhaps?

Just realised I might not even know how to use them if you did send them. I tried downloading from a couple of sites I found myself and couldn't get them to install, and also couldn't understand the technobabble that one of them suggested for installation.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH! I HATE being computer illiterate!

Download them into their own directory. then you have to add the fonts to your Words or Excel and printer.  They don't work if you try to use them from the website

Tried that. Hit the download button and one disappeared into the bowels of my Bambleweeny 57, and the other just came up as a picture that I couldn't work with. Got a message during each download about them not being valid files or summat.

Yeah, I'm trying to remember how I went about it, I know I got the fonts to download into my AutoCad.

They are available at Simmers' Paintshop. Cruise thru the available fonts, there are some good ones.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Thanks, I'll have a go at those. Probably tomorrow after a good rest.

Jeremy,

Well done, Simmer's paintshop is the place I got them from. :)

I found that if you use WinXP or blasted Vista (I HATE it!!!!) the trick is to download the various files, and they are in different forms sadly, and then install them into the 'Fonts' directory in the main 'Windows' directory by doing it from the 'Control Panel'. Just copying and pasting doesn't work for some reason.

Once you've done that they appear in Word and Excel anyway, you don't need to install them in the apps specifically. Likewise I use PaintShopPro 4 and 7 and they appear in the Fonts menu there as well.

I've not had any problems using the downloaded RAF fonts for my FS repaints, and while I've successfully ported some FS schemes across to make decals, I haven't actually done an RAF or RN model as yet. I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work though.

That's what I'm doing wrong, I need to install them into the font directory, thanks Kit.
