Need a little help finding WWI ship info

I'm trying to gather the info for my father-in-law who likes to scratchbuild models out of foam and cardboard, but I'm sort of out of my realm when it comes to ships.  I thought maybe you guys might know of a good source or place to start hunting for some plan views and info on WWI ships, different types and nations are needed. 3 Views would be perfect but I'll take what I can get.

You could probably pick up a copy of "Janes Fighting Ships of WWI" quite cheaply. That would have basic stats and drawings for most ship types. There are a number of "Anatomy of the Warship" books available, that cover a variety of ships in great detail, including the famous battleship HMS Warspite, and there are several Osprey books dealing with various groups of ships.

Any specific ships you're looking for, or just First World War in general?

Greg, i followed the link but my russian goes about as far as "nyet" and "da" is there an english version? I doubt babelfish will help a whole lot but maybe I'll give it a try.

Pyro, thanks for the heads up on the Jane's book, I'll see if I can track it down  I'm pretty much looking for WWI ships in general, nothing specific at the moment.

I think some specialist hobby shops and military bookshops actually carry plans for scratch building model ships. I've seen them for sale on eBay under the 'ships' section of 'Model building,' and I'm sure there will be online dealers.

Greg, The-Blueprints.com has many drawings of ships from all eras.  Some have full three-views, theres a useful table indicating the view, some ships have more than one file & the views scattered over them.  The quality is mixed, but I'm sure there'll be something your father-in-law is interested in.

If he wants to get into serious detail, then you'll want real plans. The US Naval Historical Center has a website listing such resources for US ships: http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq26-1.htm, including the National Archives and the Smithsonian. I personally recommend The Floating Drydock, which has plans for non-US ships as well.
