Black Knight

basically modify an aircraft into a new role by adding radomes or lumps and bumps.

eg.

aew hercules - build up a hercules and add the radome to it like the uscg version or add radomes to the front and back like the aew nimrod.

anyone else in?

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Another damm fine idea. In fact, I did this a few years ago. Navalised a Canberra and made it a carrier borne ASW machine. There were pictures of it on the old site, but alas it no longer survives. It was wilfully destroyed by a nasty little kid.

The 737, 707, and DC-8 are all aircraft I've wanted to convert into some sort of jet powered sub hunter.   In the prop world, a D.H.-4 for WW-1, a Heller DC-6, and an A-26K have come to mind in various scenarios as well.

Got an old Airfix Trident half done that I might convert into summat like that. Add some lumps, hemp paint, ...

B-52 with twelve Mk46 torps under the wings and a MAD boom? (Would need to get a B-52 first, though...) An SH-64, with torps rather than Hellfires, and a dipping sonar in place of the cannon.

Hehe, an air-launched version of ASROC for helicopters would be cool...

And, while not quite fitting the theme here, how about converting a Raptor or a JSF into an underwater craft? :-)
