Last week I was perusing Ebah just to see what was around when I spotted "Rare 1:48 Hobbycraft Messerscmitt Bf109G6  Started."  Rare?.
Well the opening price was 99p and P+P £2 so I had a look. The kit had been just about built but unpainted and was missing its canopy and decals. I thought poss cheap wiff item/conversion basis.  A quick Email to the seller brought back that the cockpit had been painted, but all the weapons etc were there AND a couple of Falcon vacform canopies had been thrown in for good measure. Hell at this price it was worth it just for the weapons and canopy and bin the kit.
Well after a hard fought bout of sheer commercialism I won the item for the expensive price of £1:24 plus the p+p and it arrived today and is actually pretty good.

Now in the words of the song, let me take you back to when the rain was softer, the grass was greener and things were a lot less bloody expensive. In those dim and distant days I used to model in 1:72 and had quite a collection of little dio`s that I either gave away, sold or just binned and every so often I recreate one of my favourites in 48th from photos I have. Here is the Italeri 109G painted in spring clean mode in Russia WW2.

Soooo what I`m gonna do is leave the model basically untouched just tweak the cockpit interior and maybe add the underwing weapons or droptank if needed, paint etc and try and redo the dio.
Wish me luck and will post as and when it happens.
Cheers  :drink:

Jammy - I've got stung for more than that for half-finished 1/72nds.....

Like the Spring Clean idea because I like dioramas that are a bit different to the usual fuelling/weapon-loading ones, and it should look even better in 1/48th. Nice one!

That "Srping Cleaning" dio is an excellent idea, HOG! Definitely a change of pace from the usual. I'm going to enjoy this show!

Work on the blow part of the garden planter continues with the RLM75 added and mottle sprayed.

Its that time of year again when airbrushing, paint tends to dry on the tip of the needle and then flies onto the model, especially when trying to do closeup work like mottleing. This is sprayed in Revell enamels and I should have used white spirit or similar instead of cellulose thinners. this would have slowed down the drying time and avoided the bits of `peel`. Still just have to go over with a sharp blade and flick off the odd bits and cover with the winter wash. Next job is to get thye Petunia seeds in for late summer flowering  ;D .

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Work continues on the planter but the grass died. Must be the bad hogsh!te.
Glossed and some decals. Seems a shame to paint it white ;D

More as it happens and enjoy. For a change lets hear from the people who hate it
