Title: The belated 2012 version of the Whiffies
Post by: philp on February 02, 2013, 08:16:19 pm
tap, tap, tap... is this thing on? Looks awfully empty out there.  Course, it is hard to see with that bright light shining in my eyes (uh, can you turn off the lamp, thanks).

Welcome, welcome one and all (or anybody, really) to the 2013, what, 2012, are you sure? But aren't these the builds from 2012? No, they are from 2011. But, I am sure the calendar says 2013.  Yes, it does.  Then what happened last year?  You had some personal issues.  Oh, yeah, well.  But I am doing better now, right?  Seems so, you were stupid enough, uh, ok to do this again so you must be doing better.  Well, ok then, now where was I?

Oh yes, welcome all to the 2012 (really? yes. Ok) version of the one, the only The Whiffies (much fanfare and Russian National Anthem starts off stage).  Now cut that out (sound of record scratching and music stops).  That's better.

I am Phil Peterson, your Mini-Master of Ceremonies (once again, sigh) and I am proud to once again, stand before you and help recognize the best What If builds (at least, here  (Atty: Thanks)) done during 2011.  While the categories were down this year (you nominating slackers, uh, did I say that out loud?  Medication must be wearing off again, sorry) the quality remained very high and the number of voters from you, the Academy, was up so someone must be out there.

Well, think I have rambled on long enough. You didn't tell a joke.  Er, no, I forgot to ask the Writers for some this year.  I had personal issues, remember?  Ok, but you could use one from the previous years.  No one probably reads these and wouldn't remember if they do.  But where would my diginty be, oh, well, I am running the Whiffies, no dignity left here.

Anyway, a quick word from one of our sponsors (all new again I see) and then, on with the awards.

This is going well isn't it? You have only done 2 categories.  Well, yes but they have gone well, right?  Er, I guess so.

All right all, we will take a short break for a word from one of our sponsors.

JMN's, how the heck did we get them to sponsor an add?  We kind of told them this was the most accurate Awards show on the internet.

What, and they believed us?  Hey, they are JMNs, use the word accurate and they will believe anything.

And that brings us to our final category.  The most prestigious award (Atty: careful) the Academy can offer (Atty: OK).
I speak of course of The Whiffie of the Year.  Once again, we opened this category up to 10 nominees (if it is good enough for the Oscars, it is good enough for us) and this didn't make the decision any easier.

The nominees for the Whiffie of the Year are

going to wait until after another ad.

Well, what do you know.  I made it through another one of these.

Congratulations to all our Winners.  Well deserved.

Thanks to all who took the time to nominate entries throughout 2011 and who took the time to vote on the final nominees.

Also thanks to the members of the Academy who helped make my job so much easier this year:

tc2324
CliffyB
puddingwrestler (who once again found the sponsors)

I wouldn't have been able to do this without all your support.

So, roll out the acceptance speeches.

And until next year (what, end of March, you sure?  OK), make that until next time...

Build a model.

Congrats to all the winners,   it was a very hard choice on most of them which just proves the higher standard of builds and ideas is rising.

Again, thanks Phil for putting in the time and effort and it was a pleasure helping out.

I`ll be looking forward to the best of 2013, which I don`t doubt will be even harder to vote for.  :banghead:

I would like to propose another category - Thread of the Year. This thread is entered, and no other entrants will be accepted simply beause they can never be as awesome. Congratulations on a well deserved win, philp!

I got nominated??

Outstanding quality of entries, as always, and this brought back memories of builds I'd completely forgotten about (that TTA Hornet for one! ). Thankyou to Philp and minions for doing this - it must be a pretty thankless task, and you deserve much kudos.

Brian, you are on, though, a Coke will be fine.

Glad to know someone will be at Wonderfest with me.

I am also making Telford this year, yippee, in case anyone wants to meet the crazy person who came up with this idea?

It's an honour to be nominated! It's a surprise as well, I wasn't watching the thread at all...

There are a lot of incredibly well done, amazingly thought out builds in here this year. To merely be in their company is a priviledge!

Wow, thanks. I'm at a loss for words, honestly. Which is an odd sensation for me.
