More material in a V2, and they weren't really effective at anything.

Tell that to the people of South London and Antwerp. I do know what you are getting at though.

That'd be me then............. ;)

A couple of the darn things came pretty close to my Nanna's house where I was living (at age 3...) at the time.

Apparently I said 'Damn!' when one of them went off, meaning 'Bang' of course, but my Grandad replied 'Quite right son'.  ;D ;)

Mum and dad came close to a V2 attack and Croydon was hit by more V1's then almost anywhere else. Deliberately sacrificed to preserve the centre of town and the Government  :-\

Interestingly there's a new book being releases on the Natter project. Possibly the definitive work ?

Wasn't that the business where the umpteen turned Nazi agents were instructed to send false reports of where the V1s fell, so the launch sites adjusted the 'targets' closer in? Thus Croydon became 'ground zero'.

A V1 fell right on the nursing home where my brother had just been born a few days earlier. Luckily they'd emptied out that wing for 'refurbishment' just beforehand. It needed a bit more than that afterwards!  :o

Yup, that was the story that was widespread in the 50/60's, it even made comics like the Victor and Hotspur  ;D

I know dad got really annoyed whilst escorting a convoy down the Channel sometime after D-Day and before the capture of Antwerp, when they were overflown by scores of low flying V-1's which he knew were headed for his mum,dad and kid brother and they weren't allowed to open up on them with the ship's AAA. He must of moaned a bit to much as he got shipped out to the BPF after that  Plenty of target practice there
