Jungle schemes
« on: December 22, 2017, 12:41:38 pm »
I'm working on a whif F-16 for the Ecuadorian airforce and was wondering if anyone had any picture or profiles of jungle schemes that would work well over Central and South America.

You could try the Europe One scheme, that has a lot of greens in it and might work

I remember USAF UH-1Ns operating in the Canal Zone had an unusual scheme with base greens and an over-sprayed brown mottle.  Can't find any photos online but will keep digging.

They did special ops support.

Ah it was called 'Leopard', here's the TO:

https://www.cybermodeler.com/aircraft/h-1/uh-1n_profile3.shtml

Base was actually grey!  So much for memory.

Still can't find photos but it was very effective.  Forest isn't uniformly green but is interrupted by rivers, clearings and shadow.

Assuming you want to base it on reality you could try google imaging Equadorian Air Force.

The Special Forces UH-1Ns (and, IIRC. some other aircraft) carried this unique scheme in the Eighties:

And there are several Middle American Mustangs which carried interesting schemes, e. g.  in Bolivia, the Dom. Rep. or Guatemala (this one is apprently still for sale):

I have an A-4 Skyhawk I want to paint.  I would like a nice, jungly Camouflage scheme.  Does anybody have some examples of the same?   I suppose it should be Green as the basis but apart from that, what else?

The Venezuela scheme on their F-16 is probably the most likely option that would have been used

How about an RNZAF A-4 scheme? They looked very 'jungly'.
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings

Singapore (and NZ) used the SEA scheme on their A-4s, and Malaysia operated them in a similar camouflage and a two-tone scheme consisting of a lighter khaki drab tone, paired with dark green.

The SEA variant:

The two-tone scheme in different stages of deterioration:

Many US Aggressor Scooters also carried schemes suitable for a jungle environment:

Another inspiration: P-51s and D.H. Vanopires from the Domenican Republic; just dark green and tan, but the pattern is pretty unique and disruptive:

And, finally, the Brazlian F-5 wear a jungle cammo, too, even though it does not like one. But over hazy forest landscape, this two-tone scheme (FS 36173 and 34092) is pretty effective:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Another jungle option, perfect with Shark(or whatever)mouth - a Peruvian Mi-24 in, well, somewhat bright colors:

Here's a couple of RAF-in-Vietnam schemes I came up with years ago:

And here's the same basic idea applied to an EE Thunderbolt (single-engined Lightning).
I havn't finished this model 'cos I wasn't sure whether I liked the cammo or not:

Neophyte: Is Eris true?
Malaclypse the Younger: Everything is true.
Neo: Even false things?
MtY: Even false things are true.
Neo: How can that be?
MtY: I don't know man, I didn't do it.
