Poynton Model Show 2018 (Sept 15th & 16th)
« on: December 08, 2017, 02:38:22 pm »
Apparently, there is a model show in Poynton this weekend. I only found out about it because I saw the direction signs up on lamp posts as I drove to work this afternoon. It's for all kinds of modelling, not just plastic models, details here: http://www.themodelshow.co.uk/

I shall pay a visit, probably tomorrow, and report back....

Well, the show is small but good, and I forgot my camera....

Mostly railways, but a nice selection of plastic models and RC boats and planes too. The Leisure Centre has a swimming pool, so twice a day the RC boat guys are doing demonstrations in there! Had a few good chats and recognised a couple of familiar faces from other model shows.

Bought a mint 1/72nd ZTS RWD-5bis (Polish Piper Cubish thing), a couple of Oxford diecast Bedford vans, one in BOAC colours and one Royal Navy, and a few tools.

'Twas a good morning.  <_<

Just took a virtual drive through there, looks like a nice little town. Enough pubs to keep one hydrated! ;D

Yeah it's a pretty decent little place. I've been going through it or to it for about 20 years now, since I've worked in two different places actually in Poynton, one in Macclesfield (through Poynton and keep going) and one in Woodford (turn right at Poynton).

This show is on again in 2018, but the dates have moved to Sept 15th and 16th. Apparently this gets the organisers more show space and facilities, which is good.

Website: http://www.themodelshow.co.uk/?page_id=1271

If you want to make a full day or even a weekend of it, the Avro Heritage Museum is just down the road one way: http://avroheritagemuseum.co.uk/

AND the Anson Engine Museum is just down the road the other way: http://www.enginemuseum.org/index.html (only open on Friday and Sunday)

I'd be more than happy to guide anyone to any of these places or provide any other help: this is my back yard.
