Way too many things to complete and finish to add another build

Contemplating biting off more than I can chew again....
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Hmmm, settled on a project for the 1WGB - actually wanted to build it for the Cold War GB, but it just fell out of the time scope, so the new GB is a good occasion to reduce the kit pile further.

Got my kit for the group build, I have a great idea for a whiff, but as to the execution ( how to paint it etc), well, it's still up in the air. :P

Well that's another potential project nixed: I was going to do a Ford trimotor gunship using the old Revellogram 1/77th kit because it's close to the right scale for 1/76th machine-guns. However, a few things have become apparent:

1. A gunship would work better using the longer 5-AT version: the Monogram kit is the 4-AT.

2. The Monogram kit has no separate roof: you glue the fuselage halves together then add the floor. That would make it very difficult to add a floor with guns that have to poke out of the windows.

3. It looks like a Trimotor model would look pretty poor without the external control cables added, and since I've never messed about with rigging, that's probably more than I want to attempt for the 1 Week GB.

Conclusion: I need the Airfix Trimotor kit (5-AT, separate roof plus interior) for the gunship project.

Back to the drawing board.... :banghead:

Just for fun I will see how much further I can get with last year's failed 1WGB entry.

That sounds like a plan that I can go with as I only managed to paint a few items such as air intakes myself. Probably finish the build in two years time if I just build it during the One Week Builds though  :banghead:

Preparations on the way - weird to have the time to file through the spares archive for additional/conversion parts, and to test various paint options for the look I want to achieve before anything happens in hardware form...

Also use the pre-GB time to write up the appropriate background story for the model, which is normally a WiP act, too. On the other side, I discover nice details and facts around my basic idea that help to flesh out the kit.

I've got most of one of them you could have if you wanted.  Only missing engines and seats.  Oh, and it had been glue bombed together.  But other than that it's ideal.
I can get it to you on the 29th if we use Australia Post International Courier Postage.  It's only AU$106... ;D
Seriously though, I suspect it's not really suitable for a 1 week build as PSRing the corrugated skin would drive me insane without the added pressure of a deadline.

I'll pass thanks.  ;)

Every build I've read of either kit emphasises cleaning up and test fitting all the parts to death in order to minimise PSR. Having said that, you have to be careful, because some of the joint lines that cut across the corrugations on the model are actually there on the real thing.

If I make progress with my main build I may dabble in some armour. Was thinking of turning the third A9 Cruiser in my 3 in 1 box into an improvised armoured assault carrier for 8th Army. Simply remove the main turret and build some form of protection for the infantry squad carried, the m.g. turrets could provide covering fire as they went in ? An alternative would be remove the main turret, add some form of drum container and the m.g. turrets could become flame turrets. The flame fuel carried externally so it can be jettisoned in case of damage ?

You wouldn't really need to remove the turret at all for the flamethrower tank: see the Churchill Crocodile.

Made my mind up.  I was going to do a relatively simple scratch-build of a Krait fighter from an old computer game I used to play called Elite, as they were all done with wire frame vectors and were simple shapes.  Trouble is I was getting hung up on the details.

So I ditched that plan and I'm doing two of the same kit with some conversion.  My idea is that the two need similar work so it shouldn't be too much more effort to do a second one at the same time.....
