They've put up sprue shots of the FV 432 and, dammit, they HAVN'T moulded the roof hatch seperately... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

According to S&M's news pages, both their MUSTARD shuttle and their FV432 will be at Telford. Given that I also want their Wasp, which is due for the show too, Telford is already looking very expensive...

Please tell me the FV432's top hatch is moulded as a separate item, please, please, please.......

http://sandmmodels.co.uk/news/
The CAD images don't appear to show the doors as a separate part as yet as the tops is all one colour, however the breakdown of the parts and onto the sprue is a different matter and we'll just have to wait and see if we get to see the test sprues when they appear.

Note that the FV.432 is being listed as 1/72nd as opposed to 1/76th which the Stalwart was created as.

Would really like to see some progress on the Wasp/Scout kit as were now in August and November is only 3 months off, looking at the planned releases I can see some of these easily slipping into 2019.

Given the amount of grief I've had over the years with the Wasp I'm pleased to say Mel is likely to get the 'when is it ready?' question many times over, as I don't think it will be at Telford this year, maybe next?!  Last time I spoke to him his Canberra B.6 was also looking unlikely with same wing mould problems of first batch that caused the B.2/T.4 to miss the show.
I think the FV.432 might be the only new injection release he has.

Save time and money and just come over to my stand, I'll find something for you to spend your money on!

Maybe he should get some flying made up to save him repeating the same answer over, Wasp karma can be a Bitch....

Air Graphics are also saying no news regarding the Kiwi Resins injection moulded Wasp kit (now why do i suspect its the same kit  :banghead: ). Micromir have been doing their own stuff including 48th Dragonfly and Sycamore, so i guess the wasp/scout is on the back burner.

I said the same thing to Joe when I saw the sprue  :banghead:, what a wasted opportunity its easy enough to do separate hatches without having to do an interior and the roof hatch moulded on to a one piece hull top means easy alternative versions with the Peak turret or the Fox turret cannot be easily done either

S&S do a Peak turret conversion that comes with the adaptor plate, so at least all you have to do it drill/carve the moulded-on hatch away: https://sandsmodels.com/product/fv432-peak-turret/

I don't know about the MUSTARD, that comes from a caster in the UK, I think Mel said he would have it but don't know if he meant the 1/144 or 1/72 one.

The Air-Graphics Wasp is the Kiwi plastic parts with what looks like the old Airwaves engine etc added, I've seen a pic of the masters, I would wait for MikroMir one.

So would I - if I was into whirlythings - bearing in mind that it'd be a day in hell so cold that they'd have to chisel Satan out of a mile deep glacier than me lining the pockets of a convicted criminal.

Now that does look tasty.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Telford News:

FV432 is available: 16 a pop, which is about what was expected.

MUSTARD: due in a few weeks.

Wasp: due middle of next year. Apparently the manufacturers have hit a technical problem engineering the kit and Mel decided to put it on back-burner to make sure that the lower-risk FV432 was definitely, definitely going to be at Telford. Disappointed personally, but I do understand his logic.

I did tackle him about the FV432 roof hatch. As I suspected, the problem was that there's no more room on the sprue for the separate hatch bits, and bigger sprues, needing a bigger moulding machine, would have made it more expensive. He didn't think it would sell at 20+ and I think he's right about that. Apparently he wants to do a Fox-turreted one next, and is also thinking about the Giant Viper mine-clearance setup*, and doing the mesh external stowage box as an aftermarket bit. I suggested doing the FV438 Swingfire vehicle as a one-sprue conversion set rather than a full kit and he seemed quite taken with the idea.

The completely new thing that he wants to do next is a Humber Pig...

* EDIT Come to think of it, although we mentioned Giant Viper, it might have been the Ranger and Bar minelayer that he was keen to do...
