That's pretty awesome !

But everytime I see a boat that large, it seems pointless unless it's RC ?! Then again, I've always wanted to do a Flower Class with a million dollars worth of accessories......

Looked very nice in the pics from Nuremburg. If you think this is big you should see the 1/18th scale planes!

Russian warship designers always seemed to get a tremendous amount of bang for their bucks( roubles!) - even in a small vessel like this!!

There's a build of the Dauntless in SAMI. It just about fits the guy's modelling desk. I think these are intended for those who build one kit a year or so but super detail to the Nth degree ? Wonder how many will get bought and join the stash to just sit and glare ?

ill ask here as despite a quick google and review read, I have no more idea than before.
Merit do 2 versions of the 80' ELCO  in 1:48
the early  https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MM64802  84.99
and the later https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MM64801  69.99

I want to do a early ish version to represent the Black Lagoon from the Anime of the same name  https://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&tbm=isch&q=black+lagoon&chips=q:black+lagoon,g_48:torpedo+boat&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwim4bfgpcTcAhUQM8AKHaHXDswQ4lYIugEoAQ&biw=1842&bih=1012&dpr=0.9#imgrc=_&spf=1532866811854    ( my that's a long google search)  im hoping that I can use the later

any ideas folks?

Mr Penguin, the main difference between the 2 types is the torpedo tubes (the rest can be worked around) ... The late models didn't have them! Instead they launched their torpedoes by dropping them over the side of the boat.

The "Black Lagoon" images clearly show a boat with tubes. So, unless you want to scratch-build the tubes, I'm afraid you'll have to use the (more expensive) early type.
